NLRA (NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT)


The NLRA or National Labor Relations Act was formed in 1935 to protect the rights of employees to oragize a union. It is required for Federal Contractors and their sub contractors to post notices informing employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).

Under this act it is required to inform employees about their right to organize into a labor union, join and assist a unin, and when a majority of the employees are represented by a union; to bargain with their employer.

This notice offers examples of an unlawful employer. It also includes how employees can contact the National Labor Relations Board, the federal agency overseeing this act, with any questions of to file any complaints.

Any contractors that disregard the Labor Department's regulations may be subject to santions, including suspension or cancellation of the contract. Under the NLRA, It is illegal to forbid an employee from discussing his of her own salary with others.
