
The Wage Theft Prevention Act in New York took effect last April 9, 2011, this act is made to put a stop into employers habit of not giving employees the exact pay that they deserve.
The main goal of the act, is to abolish employers' practices by paying employees lesser than the states minimum wage and exact overtime pay. Requiring all employers to provide written notices stating wages and benefits of employees.
Employers and business owners in New York, should start being vigilant regarding the pay and benefits of their employees. The act also said to increase criminal penalties for wage theft and will also be increasing unpaid wages that workers will get.
